Capture Tokyo: Cherry Blossoms

Pink Cherry Blossoms in Meguro

Taken last Spring. When I first came to Japan, I was surprised to learn that there were various types of cherry blossoms. Japan is most famous for its light pink/almost white variety that has become synonymous with Spring time (the ones you so often see in dramas and animes). I will admit that those light pink cherry blossom trees in full bloom is truly a magnificent sight; however, I prefer the darker blossoms that bloom a deeper hue. They’re a little more rare in Tokyo and slightly harder to find, but I find that deep pink, almost maroon color absolutely beautiful!

One of my favorite memories of Japan is having drinks at Ueno Park with friends under the cherry blossom trees. Nothing better than sake, friendship while enjoying the blossoms fall. Thanks for rekindling the good memories.
